This new project sees Brian Doyle and me turning our attention to St Johnstone’s Greatest Games over the past 137 years. We have already compiled our list of the matches we will cover, but are now keen to hear from fans who attended some of them and who would be willing to share their memories. In order to keep some order to the research and writing, we want to start with games from the 1940s, 50s and 60s (don't worry, later games will also be covered!).
In particular, we'd like to speak to anyone who was at any of the following games:
St Johnstone 9, Albion Rovers 0, (Willie McIntosh, six goals) 9th March 1946 (a very long shot, we know!)
St Johnstone 1, Admira Wien 2, 21st April, 1954 (also a long shot)
Berwick Rangers 0, St Johnstone 2, 27th April, 1960
Stenhousemuir 5, St Johnstone 5, 22nd September, 1962 Hibernian 2, St Johnstone 5, (Gordon Whitelaw hat-trick), 24th December 1966
Rangers 2, St Johnstone 3 (Alex Ferguson hat-trick), 21st December, 1963
Celtic 2, St Johnstone 2, 30th August, 1969
